Read this post to find out what is going if Emmanuel Mudiay is planning on staying with the Nuggets.
Who is Emmanuel Mudiay?
Emmanuel Mudiay was drafted in the 2015 draft by the Nuggets. He was the 7th overall pick, with no college experience.
Last season, he averaged 12.8 points per game and 5.5 assists, only playing 30 minutes. This season, his playing time went down with his stats. Now, he is averaging only 10.8 points per game while playing 25.8 minutes.
He plays the point guard position.
Why would Mudiay Leave the Denver Nuggets?
This season Mudiay has been suffering from back spasms. Before the start of his pains, he started in 41 of the Nugget’s games.
After his return, Mudiay has been completely removed from the rotation. Out of 9 games he only played 3, and in those 3 games, he played 15 minutes! These numbers are unacceptable for a player as good as Mudiay.
Currently, the coach of the Nuggets, Michael Malone is putting Jameer Nelson at the starting point guard position. With that, rookie Jamal Murray will remain at the backup slot. That’s right, Mudiay isn’t even a backup!
“That’s probably one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make in terms of what guards I’m going to go with,” Malone told the Denver Post last week. “Emmanuel was starting for us for a year and a half, so for him to go from starter to sort of out of the rotation is a lot to handle for a young man.” (http://www.espn.com/blog/nba/rumors/post/_/id/41524/nba-rumor-central-does-emmanuel-mudiay-have-a-future-with-nuggets)
“It’s different, but I’m just trying to stay ready as much as possible,” Mudiay said. “I’m just working on my game. I can only control what I can control.” (http://www.espn.com/blog/nba/rumors/post/_/id/41524/nba-rumor-central-does-emmanuel-mudiay-have-a-future-with-nuggets)
Overall, these numbers for Mudiay isn’t satisfying him and he wants that to change.
