Who is Omri Casspi?
Omri Casspi is an Israeli NBA player. He has played for multiple teams, including the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers since 2009. Overall he averages about 10 points per game, 1 assists, and 5 rebounds playing around 25 minutes.
Why is Omri Casspi Targeted
Recently. Omri was traded to New Orleans with Demarcus Cousins. They soon waived him as he broke his thumb in his first game. Instead of being able to play with Davis and Cousins, he is now a free agent. The reasons teams want Casspi is because he has a high shooting percentage which can help teams greatly on offense. Also, he doesn’t take that much cap space. That is why teams like the Clippers, Grizzlies, etc. are looking into acquiring him on their teams. “I think he understands,” Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said after Casspi was released. “We talked about it. It’s just kind of an unfortunate situation because I felt like he was going to be a guy that could help us — the shooting aspect, the size, and everything. These kinds of things happen. At this stage, it was really just important for us to have that roster spot.” Maybe the Pelicans will resign him but that is highly unlikely since they are far away from going to the playoffs. If he is smart, Omri will choose a team that he might have a chance to win with.
